Florence Chiropractor Dr. Mark Buckles
My Journey to Chiropractic
My chiropractic story began as a result of a head and neck injury I suffered as a 7 year old, second grader playing tackle the turkey (football). I recall, quite vividly, not only the pain I felt in my head and neck, but, the inability to turn my head in either direction. Unable to hide the fact that I couldn’t turn my head, I reluctantly told my mom about the injury. My mom, (being a chiropractic patient herself as the result of an auto accident), suggested I see her chiropractor and scheduled me for an appointment that day. I went with much trepidation and fear of the unknown. I was evaluated and received my first chiropractic adjustment that day. I walked out of the office that day with no pain and the ability to fully turn my head again. I was amazed! That day the seed was planted! I had found the calling for my life.
A Chiropractic Education
After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, I enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. (The first chiropractic school in the world). I went on to earn my Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1997.
Following graduation from chiropractic school, I moved to Oxford, Ohio and took an associateship position with a group of very successful chiropractors. That experience taught me not only how to run a business, but, to provide quality chiropractic care. I worked as an associate for six months before venturing out on my own.
Opening Total Care Chiropractic
In 1998, I opened my own practice, Total Care Chiropractic in Cincinnati, Ohio. After 12 years in Cincinnati, an opportunity arose in Northern Kentucky. I had been recently married at the time and my wife and I made the decision to move the practice from Cincinnati to Florence.
I love being here in Florence. I have found that Boone County had the type of community I was looking for; family-oriented, welcoming and full of amazing people.
On a Personal Note…
I am married to my beautiful wife, Kama, whom I met, believe it or not, on EHarmony. In our free time, we stay busy visiting with family, friends and by participating in activities with our local church.
I stay healthy by eating organic (as much as I can), running, strength training and receiving chiropractic adjustments one to two times per month. I enjoy coaching, attending seminars (chiropractic/nutritional), reading and running in road races.
